FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
K or TK? - Important Birth Date Requirements
Students are eligible for K if they turn 5 on or before September 1, 2021. Students who turn 5 between September 2, 2021 - January 31, 2022 are eligible for the district's TK program.
Birthday Requirements for TK
Only children who's birthdays are on or between September 2 and January 31 are guaranteed a spot in Transitional Kindergarten. If your child turns 5 during those dates, you are encouraged to go to the WPUSD website and follow the directions to register your child and turn in your packet at the school office.
How to Register for K or TK Programs
The district hosts a part online/part paper registration system to register students in our TK and K programs. For detailed instructions on how to register your child for TK or K, please visit the district's registration website.
Can I Request AM/PM Placement?
Our Kinder program will be extended day - the school day will run from approximately 8:15am-1:40pm. Students will each lunch at school daily.
Our TK program is a half day program. It is possible that we will offer an AM or PM TK - we just don't know yet. However, parents are able to select a preference for an AM or PM placement. Because we must balance our classes based on a variety of factors, we are unable to guarantee a parents preference. The order a packet is received is not a consideration for AM/PM placement. The overall volume of TK registrations, the specific needs of the student, family, and criteria for balancing classes is used to determine AM/PM assignments if we offer two class times.
Can I Request a Specific Teacher?
We are unable to accept requests for specific teachers. However, parents may complete a Parent Information form and include it with their child's registration packet. You can find the form here (it's okay that it's got an old date on it! :)
Please visit the school district's registration site regularly for the most up-to-date information about TK and K registration. You are welcome to call our office (916 434 5292) with specific questions but we ask that you review the district's registration website first.
